Early warehouse designers chose to construct the building’s outer walls and roof independent from the supporting structures inside. The purpose was to protect the contents should the building become damaged and minimize building damages should contents shift. Known as "Rick Construction", buildings are characterized by their massive internal wooden beam structures.
