Corn Whiskey
Many of the early Ohio Valley settlers were of Scottish, Irish or German heritage. For generations their families practiced the art of distilling and considered the surplus corn an opportunity. With a simple three step process, the corn was converted into corn whiskey. Since it was not perishable and less bulky than corn to transport, it soon became the currency of choice and could be traded like money for goods and services.
