Snoqualmie is located 25 miles east of Seattle, Washington in the Cascade Mountains. Geographically isolated by the mountains, in 1889 the railroad came to town and opened the area’s agricultural and timber resources to Puget Sound markets. The train also brought tourists to enjoy the beautiful sights and scenery. Now, as then, tourists marvel as waters cascade 268 feet over the granite cliffs of Snoqualmie Falls.

Long before the train, agriculture and logging operations, the Snoqualmie Valley was an integral part of the Snoqualmie People’s livelihood, culture, beliefs and spirituality. The Snoqualmie Falls served as their traditional burial site and a place where "prayers were carried up to the Creator by the great mists that rose during powerful flows". Even today one can see the prayers rising to the Creator from sacred rock cairns in the river below.

David-what beautiful pictures. Having lived in Oregon for many years and visited the Snoqualmie area so many times it brings back such great memories of younger years with our sons. We have family that lives very close to the Snoqualmie area. Thank you for adding the pictures to your collection. I will forward your collection to family and friends in Snoqualmie and the Seattle area.
