In the shadows of the iconic Twin Spires, the 137th running of the Kentucky Derby was held at
Churchill Downs on Saturday, May 7, 2011. Although most probably witnessed “The Greatest Two Minutes in Sports” on television, each year about 150,000 experience the event in person at the historic track. Depending on personal preference and wealth, accommodations range from festive parties of the Infield to excessive grandeur of Millionaires Row. Between these extremes are the Grandstands. This more affordable option is very popular and provides many the unforgettable experience of a lifetime.
Churchill Downs does have a secret. There is another option not available to the general public. Commonly referred to as the Backside, this area is open to a small group of select individuals. If ever invited, be prepared for an experience unlike anything imaginable.
