Eufaula is located in eastern Alabama on the high banks of the Chattahoochee River. Established in 1823, families were attracted to the area’s fertile soil and nearby river. These two factors combined with "King Cotton" helped Eufaula flourish. The economic impact can still be seen in the Historic District’s mid-to-late 19th century small town commercial buildings and nearby collection of Late Victorian, Classic Revival, Italianate, Gothic Revival and Greek Revival homes.
