Disney’s Animal Kingdom utilizes over 500 acres of the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. Opening on April 22, 1998, it is now home to more than 1,700 animals from 250 different species. Despite being Disney’s largest park, it is themed around animal conservation with emphasis on education and research.
The park’s most unique feature is its design. Each habitat is created with natural environmental barriers rather than with traditional walls, fences and bars. This results in better habitats, healthier animals and more realistic experiences for visitors. From a photographic perspective, it is hard to beat.
